Achimenes ‘Ambroise Verschaffelt’. Achimenes are gesneriads easily propagated by tubers. I’m really starting to appreciate how much our relatively dry spring and summer held things back, as more and more plants that should have gotten going in spring are only starting to hit their stride now.

I repotted Stapelia gigantea in the spring, so it spent all summer adjusting and growing. This is the first flower of the year.

Amphiachyris… I think. (DYCs…) This was a spectacular group lining the trail either way.

Now that it’s October, it’s time to see what plants made it through the echeveria trials. This was honestly a surprise; frilly, warty, ‘Sea Dragon’ seemed destined to fall apart. Instead, it’s done extremely well, keeping good color and form all through the year.
