Apparently the legendary bender oak at Morris fell apart and was removed. I wish they’d left some of it up as architectural elements. Think of the stories a slowly decomposing veteran tree stump covered with fungi can tell. Coarse woody debris is important and beautiful, and turning this spot into a turf patch feels so wrong.
Photos from September 2018.
Some of the mushrooms popping up around my neighborhood. The fly agaric is plate-sized.
Picked up an impressive souvenir from the plant bio department veg garden. They have quite a few comically-sized cucurbits right now, check it out if you’re in the area.
Amorphophallus konjac and A. maxwellii got to spend a relaxing Summer in West Philly. They look very happy!
