@botanyshitposts your Western Skunk Cabbage reblog post reminded me of the fact there are a couple of different plant Genera shared between Asia and North America; some which people expect or don’t expect.

Like

  • Trillium
  • Arisaema
  • Asarum
  • Gymnocladus
  • Paris
  • Lilium
  • Fraxinus
  • Acer

and probably a bunch of others just throwing the ones off the top of my head (both well known and not). The evidence that NA and Asia where once connected continentally via the botanical evidence is pretty neat.

I’m gonna level with you guys. Save for my own original posts, offtopic stuff, my ramblings, and some artpieces, I don’t think I’m gonna be tagging as much anymore if at all. The queue as is will have tags for a while (cause like hell I’m going back removing old tagging, no way!), and the autotag from xkit may still help with giving some exceptions, but otherwise tagging will probably stop from me. The more I look into my energy management the more I’m finding it’s more work than it’s paying off for me to tag every single post I reblog/post. Plus I do not see much benefit for it for such a blog as this. Before I did not go through as many posts per day relating to this blog so at the time it was less work/exhaution to tag, now there’s just too many posts to manage if I want to reblog etc.

If I want to keep running this blog I have to reduce the chore exhaustion, and for  the time being this may be the best way how. I’m not going anywhere, but I will say some small things will change to make sure that stays the case.

Tbh the ultimate tragedy about me probably selling the alpine strawberry plants this June 2nd is that I never even got to taste what they tasted like. I hear they taste unique from their non-alpine brethren but I’ll never get to see how true that is. Like, I COULD keep two plants just to see for myself but…. I need that plant-growing real estate yo.

kihaku-gato:

Been thinking; “oh, seeding season isn’t so bad. It’s going pretty swiftly and smoothly this year, it’s not that bad” then I learned the missing step that I did not connect as part of the steps; for stuff like this mixed grain you gotta till (?? That’s not the word) the sown seeds in so they dont blow away or get easily eaten in the fields, but during it we have to STONE PICK during the process. Seems my brain repressed that unsavoury step. Still hope this year it doesn’t take too long.

Harrowing, the word I was after rather than tilling was harrowing.

Idk if it’s the smoothie/milkshake for breakfast or not but holy frick I’ve never felt so awake so quickly wow. I’m not used to this I should probably not just be sitting here.

*whispers* Harriet or Riivar for Mermay

The weird struggle is deciding what kind of mermaid Harriet would even be. For some it’s pretty obvious;

Demauria would be a Stickleback (I may be biased from childhood memories of being stabbed in the hand from what gave their name, hush)

Terra goes without saying that she’d be a Tiger Shark

Riivar would be some kind of Octopus/Squid type of mermaid (all the flashy variable colours? very Riivar)

But Harriet? Idk. Want to go for a fish with ego or high sociability to match Harriet. My guess would be maybe either Guppy or Betta fish (former for colours and “sociability” the latter cause Betta fish have a very egotistical air, even the females at time) but they don’t quite fit as I’d like her to fit. Hell at this rate I’m grasping straws and considering the New Zealand Eels.
