If I were to make a plantblr discord server would anyone be honestly interested? or has someone beat me to it?

I’m a little unsure of the discord server idea entirely as I’ve never really participated in any that heavily before, plus I never was good at carrying conversation anyways nor do I like taking any kind of admin role but-

I did consider making text channels specifically so people can both converse and scream into the server void

Still on the fence on whether I’ll roll with this or not but

I haven’t heard any interest from any of the BIG GAME plantblrs, ye want in?

I can also add more category/channels such as cacti/succulents, orchids etc. if wanted.

Guess while this is all going to heck I have at least ONE confession I must spill pertaining to this blog in particular;

The Lily icon/avatar I use? The original plants/bulbs have been dead/gone from my gardens for at least 2+ years (possibly 4 years). Either due to the odd winters we had or due to hungry animals digging around the area (or possibly during the early start of the Red Lily Beetle infestations), the cultivar declined down to only a few bulblets, which also eventually perished. Doubt I could or would get them again. While they were very sturdy plants I honestly do not know what cultivar they were- when purchased they were labelled as Lilium nepalense which of course I discovered they were not (it took 2-3 years before they even matured to flowering size did I finally discover they were mislabelleds).

I keep the avatar as is partially due to ~personal branding~, the fact that white is a very compatable colour for “holiday/event avatar edits”, as well as for the fact that it’d be hard to find a good flower to change to for the blog’s banner (which has that lily as the centerpiece) if I could even find the original source PSD file to do so.

Was a crummy/busy day yesterday but at least the yellow flowered Schlumergera has joined the S. truncata hybrid floral display!

All the different colours in one window definitely brings in the feeling of a warm tropical jungle into a day surrounded by a cold and abnormally mucky un-canadian winter day ❄🌺

Well, well, well, looks like I won’t have to buy a new red flowered Schlumbergera truncata hybrid after all; two of my seedlings from several years ago (conceived in a schlumbergera pollination tutorial) inherited their dead parent’s red colouration. When I saw the initial bud colour development I honestly thought they’d be pink flowered, what a pleasant surprise to be proven wrong.

Eugh if even some of the plantblrs are being cautious I mind as well hop on the boat;

Alternative site to find me is @KihakuGato on Twitter for most activity. I also have the name Kihaku-Gato on deviantArt but I’m basically dead on that website as of late. Twitter’s your best bet.

One of the biggest annoyances with being a houseplant/gardening enthusiast is having to use so much restraint to hold back the collectors urges. With me getting back in the houseplant-care game again my brain keeps going on occasion like ASDGJKASDJLASDFJKGSADKLGD NEED MORE PLANTS NEED MORE PLANTS, WE MUST COLLECT THE LAST COOL ONES WE WANT NOWWWWW

Like jeeze chill brain we only JUST got back into the plant-care groove at least wait a season/year before going that rabid again, besides we have limited growing space now ya doof.
