ofools:

So, my carnivorous plants are doing well, even though I don’t really know what types they are exactly, or what hybrids/crosses, especially with the sarracenias I have. I’ve had my small venus flytrap and the whiteish sarracenia for about a month now, or just over, and there has been new growth on both of them.

The venus flytrap looked pretty poorly for a bit with a lot of black traps and a bit of sunburn, but now it seems to be recovering, and has new traps. The white top sarracenia was pretty banged up when I got it, with a lot of burnt lids, but it also had new growth, some growing to perfectly formed pitchers, and one that’s a little wonky and I was worried about, but it was only wonky on the lid, not the actual leaf, so I’m hoping it was just the result of shock, or not getting enough sun.

So the first pic is from a few days after i first got it, and the second is from today. You can see there is new growth in the middle, and you can see one of the wonky newly formed pitcher in the middle just on the right. But there are four new pitchers in total and the other three were absolutely fine when they opened, though a little green (not enough sun)

The other venus fly trap I got, the big one, I’ve had for a few weeks now, and is still going strong, it did have some black traps when i first got it, but no signs of damage. There are some new traps forming, so I’m pretty optimistic about this one.

The other sarracenia I have, which had two floppy traps and two upright ones when I got it, has new growth as well, though again, one lid is a little wonky which you can see below, its the closest to the camera, and there is one leaf thats growing a bit wonky as well (The curved one), but the other new growth seems fine. Again, I’m hoping this is just because of maybe not enough sun, and shock from repotting (siiiiiince i repotted them as soon as i got them which i didn’t realise was a bad thing).

Also one of the larger pitchers got indigestion and there was like a bunch of bug gunk inside it.

The hybrid nepenthes I got has been doing GREAT though, when I got it it had one partially formed new pitcher, one formed but burnt pitcher and one completely burnt and black one which I got rid of. Its leaves looked shit and had been burnt. Now its got five pitchers, one still forming, and the new leaves are big and glossy! The first pic is when I first got it around jan 9, the second is just from yesterday, the feb 17!

I’m really hoping that by putting them on my balcony, which is north facing and gets the most sunlight, and is often pretty hot, will help them all grow much better
