Net Neutrality is Dead and You Can Expect Your Internet to Change on April 23rd

faninacan:

Yeah, no, I’m cross-tagging because the lack of attention this is getting overall is pissing me off.

Ajit Pai killed Net Neutrality. You’ll start seeing the effects you were warned about on April 23rd. Oh, and he apparently got an award for Courage from the NRA gun nuts, too.

You can still help by calling your senators and representatives. We just need ONE MORE PERSON on our side to get the senate portion of Congress to overrule the FCC’s decision to kill net neutrality. The battle for the net won’t end there, but it’s a start. Go to battleforthenet to find out who your reps are and where they stand, and CONTACT THEM.

Twenty-three states are also suing the FCC for this. I haven’t looked into it yet, but I assume big businesses like Google and Amazon are as well. Nevertheless, we can’t rely on lengthy lawsuits alone. The changes to your internet start in less than two months. We don’t have a whole lot of time.

Blow this up. Contact your reps. Please, do something! We HAVE to get the decision overruled!

Guys we got a lot going on political wise now but this one is one issue that should have been cut and dry and done.
Call your rep ASAP so they don’t forget to do this. Probably mention this would be the easiest legislation they would ever pass and get done

guys this is happening tomorrow and this looks like once it’s gone it will be a bitch and a half to get back CALL YOUR SENATORS PLEASE

Reblog the hell out of this please

Hey I wanted to add onto this if you don’t mind.

Net Neutrality will NOT be gutted tomorrow! What’s happening is the FCC’s repeal will be entering the Federal Register, and after that the repeal will not go into place for another 60 days.

We have until April to save Net Neutrality.
CALL YOUR REPS. FIGHT LIKE HELL.

The FCC voted to repeal Net Neutrality, but I would like to reiterate to all of you that now is not the time to panic. It’s time to get angry and active, but not time to panic.

Clickbait sites are painting today as the definitive “end” of it all, but it’s not. This shit’s still got to go through the courts.

The FCC has tried to repeal net neutrality twice before, and both times it got repealed by the courts.

The voting public’s support for Net Neutrality is overwhelming. Last I checked, 83% of polled voters nationwide are in support of Net Neutrality staying.

Republican politicians and lawmakers are aware of this overwhelming support and have been voicing their support as well.

Doug Jones victory in Alabama was a wake-up call for Republican politicians, letting them know they are not invincible.

Join the millions of Americans making their voices heard. Contact your representatives. Call them. Email them. Tweet at them. Anything you can do helps. Use the links provided on this website:

https://www.battleforthenet.com/

This is not a time for panic, it is a time for anger and for action. Let them know that this is not the end, only the beginning.

The “Save Net Neutrality” bill was just introduced to Congress. You know what this means? WE HAVE THE BIGGEST CHANCE TO GET OUR INTERNET BACK.

We can only have a chance if you contact your reps NOW and SUPPORT THE BILL. The Bill has been assigned to the House Energy & Commerce Committee.

Here is the link to the bill: https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/4585

Honestly?

The FCC is going to vote to overturn Net Neutrality.

Keep calling. Keep trying.

But be braced for that to fail.

Ajit Pai doesn’t care what the people have to say about this.

But.

Congress is going to be the group that pays for this when it happens.

We’ll all know Ajit Pai’s name, and we’ll curse him when we hear it, but it’s Congress that holds all our hopes right now.

They’re the ones that will be voted out of office for not voting for a bill to restore net neutrality. They’re the ones that will have to answer to constituents. They’re the ones that both have the ability and the possibility of doing something to counteract the vote by the FCC.

So.

Call the FCC, leave comments, attend protests – all of that is good.

But call your Congressional reps. Call your senators. Call your governors. Let them know that you’re watching, and that you expect them to step up if the FCC decides to do this.

And on December 14th, after the FCC votes, call them all again, and ask what they’re going to do now.

If net neutrality dies we aren’t getting it back. I just hope you guys know that. This government never fixes it’s mistakes until decades later if at all, and especially under Trump, they won’t ever fix their mistakes.

The BEST thing you can do is to call your members of Congress at 202-224-3121. Call three times, because you have two senators and one House representative.

Congress has oversight over the FCC, and they have stopped their votes before. Its vital you call them now, go to their local offices now (chances are there is one right next to you), and pressure them to take action. To actually go over there and stop them. To bring up all the lies the FCC is saying about net neutrality, about how they’re ignoring the lawsuit against them. WE ONLY HAVE 6 DAYS!!.

Wait do people NOT all 100% realize this?

Any lightening or loosening to corporate regulation, any change in law that gives them more freedom to do things their way and make more money, is historically permanent. It gets treated as the new precedent and standard and therefore unfair to take away ever again.

FCC Commissioner: “Please Stop Us From Killing Net Neutrality”

usschoolsuck:

December 14th, the FCC will be most likely voting to repeal net neutrality, and the situation is so bad that one FCC commissioner that will be present for this vote, Jessica Rosenworcel, made a plea to the Amerian people: “Please stop us from killing net neutrality.” She encouraged Americans to “make a ruckus” in order to stop them.

FCC Commissioner: “Please Stop Us From Killing Net Neutrality”

BREAKING!!

pilferingapples:

dotssalchow:

A whole bunch of senators have signed and sent a letter to Ajit Pai, demanding him to once again delay the FCC’s vote on a net neutrality repeal until he comes clean about his sh*t. The letter even called

out

the FCC on their use of bots to unfairly tip the balance in favor of the repeal.

Your voices are starting to pay off, but the battle is far from over. If you haven’t done your part yet, please contact your senator or local representative and let them know how much you DON’T WANT net neutrality to be repealed.

Don’t stay silent! Positive change doesn’t come from apathy or inaction. If you keep this up and then some for as long as necessary, you guys could win this battle and stop this looming threat on an open internet.

Twenty-eight senators are calling on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to delay its vote on repealing its net neutrality rules next week, citing concerns over the possibility that the agency’s public comment file may be filled with fake comments.

The group, led by Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.), wants the FCC to conduct an investigation into whether the net neutrality docket’s public comment record was tampered with.

“A free and open Internet is vital to ensuring a level playing field online, and we believe that your proposed action may be based on an incomplete understanding of the public record in this proceeding,” the senators wrote in a letter to FCC Chairman Ajit Pai. “In fact, there is good reason to believe that the record may be replete with fake or fraudulent comments, suggesting that your proposal is fundamentally flawed.”

Keep up the calls!
