So….. here’s a little preview for the kitschy, Halloween things I’ve been working on. They don’t necessarily photograph well but I was eager to show them off.

They’re black light, black rose prism desk lamps.

I wasn’t quite sure how the black-lights were going to react to the prism, the effect is a smoky purple hazy hue that casts through the resin, touches the rose, and faintly refracts out the angles like the regular prisms.

I have a handful… probably 8 or so, that will be going up for sale on Sunday. After that unfortunately, I have no more, so stay tuned! And if you like them, please let me know, I just had no idea with these things but wanted to vent my Halloween Kitsch™ seasonal mood into a project.

My partner woke me up this morning with this super serious look on his face. I asked him what’s wrong and he simply said “Emily… there’s dandelions in the yard…” I hauled myself out in my pajamas and sure enough, there they were, the season’s first flowers!

I’m going to wait for a few more to bloom before harvesting any so the early spring pollinators have some food, and this weekend I’ll probably take a hike out to where the big colony of Snowdrops and Squill always grows and see if I can kick off the spring season with my first new specimens of 2018! I’ll also probably take a little drive this evening to the spot where Coltsfoot always grow to see if they’ve come in yet.

I’m real excited!

The little baby seedlings I planted weeks ago are hardened off and looking good! I’ve got Feverfew, Yarrow, Tomatoes, Marjoram, Forget-Me-Not, and a single Cornflower seedling here.

I’ve also now started a few other seedlings outside, including the pink Baby’s Breath, Calendula, and Crimson Clover.
