This winter am I going to focus on hiking Florida’s Scrub. This desert like ecosystem is found only in Florida on ancient dunes. This isn’t the prettiest place in Florida, but this ecosystem is one of the most biologically diverse in North America with many endemic plants and animals. Only about 10% of Scrub remains in Florida due to rapid and unchecked growth in Florida.
