So I’ve been hearing about all of the problems with tumblr recently. I wish there was a way to easily transfer all of my posts to a different blog site and keep all of the friends I made along the way. If tumblr does shut down or become unpopulated, I probably won’t continue the updates the way I’m doing it right now. It’s been a massive amount of work and losing that will be such a big stab in the heart.

I did just make my very first Instagram account, www.instagram.com/helledesigns where I’ll be posting occasional updates of plants when they’re doing something awesome. It will probably mostly be art related though.

There’s always a bit of history with Pileas and the metric ton of pups, they produce. If you own one of these, you’re almost obligated to share a cutting or 30 with friends, family and neighbors.

I got this plant as a smallish cutting 3 years ago from my mom. Since then it has produced around 60 little pups. I wonder how many grandchildren and great grandchildren it has now.

My old Astrophytum ornatum when I got it in March 2016 and now, 2,5 years later. I actually didn’t think it grew much at all, but now that I look at my old pictures, I can see a huge difference.

I’m glad I bought it with an oversized pot and changed the soil from 100% peat to a cat litter/aquarium gravel mix immediately after buying it, because repotting this bad boy now would be a bit of a hassle.

Earlier this week I saw the most beautiful deep red Nepenthes at my local florist’s website and instantly fell in love. I wasn’t going to add more plants to my carnivore collection, so I waited a few days, hoping I would forget about it. I didn’t. And here he is.

Everybody, meet Nepenthes “Bloody Mary” (AKA Lady Luck).

It’s much bigger than I thought it was, but I’m not complaining!

My Aloe is now absolutely humongous. There’s no room for him indoors, but for now he really likes it out there, even though the temperature hit 2°C a couple of times already. It won’t be long before I close the glass panels on my balcony to protect all of the succulents from frost.
