I cried upon discovering this

It was like half the size when I got it over the summer, I’ve been so proud of it.

But I guess I over-watered 😰

Is it salvageable?? Right now I’m leaving it there, should I like…cut out the rotten parts and let the rest callous over…just hope it grows roots?

I’m late to be responding but I’d say, cleanly cut a centimeter away from the rotted areas, have it callus over and try to get it to root in fresh growing media. Though if I recall Opuntias generally root at the “joints”? so if it has joints it may be best to induce it to reroot in those said regions.
