I’m surprised the ants haven’t discovered these Echinocactus texensis fruits yet given the heat and lack of moisture elsewhere in the garden. Tomorrow, I plan to harvest to collect seed!

Hesperaloe parviflora, known as Texas red yucca, is nearing its peak of season. Hopefully, hummingbirds will be here soon. The first few tufts of blooms have appeared on the crepe myrtle, too.
