2018 02 04, wintering inside.
2018 01 25, today was so depressing and sad that on the way home i took a little detour and visited the botanical garden at the university, where i learned about the arch nemesis (hahaha) of helleborus odorus (illatos hunyor), namely helleborus foetida (stinking hellebore, büdös hunyor), a very pretty hellebore species with distinctive red coloration along the outer edge of the petals. wandering around, it turned out that the whole place is full of different hellebore hybrids, many of them about to bloom. elsewhere i found a carpet of eranthis hyemalis (winter aconite, téltemető) also belonging to the family Ranunculaceae like hellebores. i also took a sneek peak into the cactus house, but eventually had to go. i must go back sometime!
sedum in winter
what monster is this? it’s beautiful.
edit: it’s some sort of rhipsalidopsis.
Definitely some kind of Easter Cactus (Rhipsalidopsis). It’s so weird that they are less common than their Schlumbergera cousins.
