Tales from the plant nursery

December phone calls

Caller 1: aggressively demands to know where we got our Christmas trees, because apparently they, too, want to sell Christmas trees. (Ha! It’s waaaaaay too late, and with the shortage going on right now, good luck getting a hold of any supply. Also, don’t be rude). We politely laugh and say no.

Caller 2: aggressively demands to know if the Christmas trees we sell – are they GMO (the BAD WORD)? are they organic (the GOOD WORD)? M patiently explains to them that no, they are not GMO, but also, there’s no way in hell these things are organic. It’s a tree crop that can take 10+ years to grow and must be fucking perfect or people refuse to buy it. They’re gonna spray whatever they have to spray to have the most perfect, mite-free trees they can.

Mite-filled organic trees, despite what the organic people insist, will not be purchased by anybody.
