Large wild iris is a large, evergreen, rhizomatous plant native to South Africa and often grown as an ornamental. It blossoms profusely under the right conditions producing large, showy flowers which are followed by seed capsules.

I am a big fan of the the symmetry and colour patterns found in the genus Iris and relatives, and this was very pleasing to see at Glasgow Botanic Gardens.
