Saw a version of this image from Jeff Skrentny but it’s even more striking in person. There are cages up around new shrubs planted at LaBagh Woods to protect them from the over-abundance of deer. As you can see, other plants, like these phlox, also get shelter from the omnivorous maws of the white-tailed menace. Since there aren’t any predators here, the deer population is all outta wack. Part of a healthy ecosystem sometimes involves large animals getting chewed on. (at LaBagh Woods)
