Proof that pruning at a younger age for a tree will payoff more for later prunings; the young apples trees have been the least amount of work to prune, taking at most half an hour if not less (???) to prune for the larger young trees, in contrast the very old rickety Red Delicious apple tree has been multiple sessions worth of work for the past several days, primarily just in watershoots. Old trees left wild do not take the pruning without a fight.
