Hexastylis speciosa, Autauga County, Alabama 1 by Alan Cressler

Harper’s heartleaf or Alabama Wild Ginger – Syn. Asarum speciosum.

Plantae – Magnoliophyta – Magnoliopsida – Aristolochiales – Aristolochiaceae – HexastylisH. speciosa

Photographer’s Note:

Harper’s ginger is a very narrow endemic in central-south Alabama. The species is only known from three or four counties. It is among the showiest of the North American Hexastylis species.

I ❤ Aristolochiaceae 4ever
